In 1993 Mr and Mrs. Simard established first Tango School in San Diego. Now almost everybody who is dancing tango, was
influenced or learned directly from them, or from Ive Simard, or from his former students, now teachers.
With the persistent passion I learned the Art of Tango with Ive during 2001 - 2004. Then, later on from time to time I would come
back to him to check some points or some issues.
Even thought the driving time from my home to his School, El Mundo del Tango, would take about one hour, I drove there almost
every evening for many private lessons and other activities. Also, I attended his Master and Performing classes, which were
designed for the advanced dancers and for the future teachers. Then, I got my Diploma as the Professional Tango Teacher -
Educator from Argentino Tango Master Association (ATMA) in March 2004.
Mr. Ive Simard has special dance knowledge, life experience and talent to explain something in two minutes what students tried to
learn for years. At the beginning, for occasional students it might be pretty difficult to appreciate Ive conceptions. But later they
would see that everything in his Teaching is logical, harmonious and beautiful.
People told me that when they had problems with learning Tango, they would go to Ive for the clarifications. Many students go to his
lessons with a notebook to write down his precious thoughts, which nobody before might expressed. For some who could
understand his talk and the way of thinking, Ive would give the fundamental training in this challenging and mental dance.
Historically, with the big immigration to Argentine in 19th century, many steps in Tango arrived from the other dances.
Tango became the cultural condense, coagulation of many nations. According to Ive, it contains around 21 dances. It is important
for a dancer to recognizing it during the lessons.
Since some time ago I studied character dances, learning Tango was fast and fun for me, because I could distinguish the folk and
other familiar dance elements in it.
However, for me some other aspects of Ive theories were more important. His lessons were not only about the tango steps.
They were creative, philosophical images, which helped us to recognize why we do the certain movements. I understood him well.
It made my lessons with Ive incredibly interesting and sharpened my own Tango.
Ive told me: "Tango is about awareness. It should be there at every second. If you are not there in the moment, you are just
finished. In tango there is a word - quietness. You must know stillness. When somebody starts, his mind goes at 100 miles
an hour. When he is an accomplished dancer, his body goes at 100 miles an hour and his mind is at rest. It is peace of mind.
You cannot balance tango without peace in mind...
For many people it is a big therapy. Tango is always now, now, now. If you lose one single moment, you just trip over.
That is why it is so difficult. You donate own your past and you certainly donate own your future - you own only the
moment. The tempo of tango, the speed, the 4/4 time, is the normal human walking speed. It corresponds to the heartbeat."
Tango has many loyal people, whose lives have really changed through this dance.
Ive likes to repeat: "Everybody has the tango. You dance who you are. Tango is about being yourself."
With your deep attention and open mind, you might learn even more about Art of Tango Dance on a special lessons with a good
compatible teacher.
But ask yourself first: Are you Ready? Who are you NOW ?

Everybody has the tango, they just did not discover it yet, and that is all.
Talent in tango is number four, not number one. Number one is to wish it,
to want the real tango, then the discipline, then the consistency, then and
the talent. Tango is about being yourself. Ive Simard
