MARINA. PERSISTENCE IS ROAD TO SUCCESS… The annual Southwest Regional Dance Championship in San Diego once was held at the luxurious Loews Coronado Bay Resort, 2002. There were many different well-known competitors, judges, organizers as Ron Montez and Wendy Johnson. The most interesting surprise was the appearance of two young dancers, Marina Shershen(11yo) and Kevin Kulish (9yo). They were amazingly beautiful and professional for their junior level. They danced in Pre-Teen & Junior Pre-Champ International Latin (C/S/R) and in Pro/Am & Amateur International Latin Freestyle Competitions Closed & Open, (S/P-D/C/R), Level: Open Bronze. In both they took the first places.

Marina met her gifted partner Kevin Kulish one year ago at the Escondido Art Center when their two families were watching the
California Ballet. Since then, they have developed a good friendship.

Marina learned how to play a piano for 8 years, learned ballroom, tango, character dancing and ballet, during which she has
expresses a lot of passion and talent. During 2004-07 she was the Principal Dancer Of tango Caminito Dance school Performing
Company and danced in many shows, created her own costumes and choreography of her dance numbers.




Marina Shershen and Kevin Kulish were taking private lessons in San Diego for one year with famous Philip Gott. Their first showcase was in
Halloween annual party in October 2002, and since than they are improved a lot in different areas of Latin dances. In 1999 Marina moved to the
USA from St. Petersburg, Russia. Now she lives with her mother and grandmother in the historical Pankey ranch in Fallbrook, and attends fifth
grade at Bonsall Elementary School. As other children, she likes to swim, bike, play basketball and softball. Also, Marina is a very artistic,
creative and active girl. If she ever has some free time, she spends it doing some drawing, ceramics, crafts, or writing her own stories. One of
her paintings received second place among 4000 entries at the Del Mar Fair in 2002. Other paintings of hers were accepted for the “Vision of
Art” gallery in Vista, and several of them sold there. Classical music also holds Marina’s interest, and her favorite composer is
Tchaikovsky.
During the dance lessons Marina has expresses a lot of talent and passion for dance. In 2001 she was dancing the main
character Clara in the ballet The Nutcracker, as well as several other dances. In August 2002, she and played the piano Prelude
No.1 by Carolyn Miller. Recently for a school assignment Marina was asked to write a script about the famous Russian ballerina
Anna Pavlova, and she plans to dance the main character.
Kevin enjoys dancing with his beautiful partner and friend Marina Shershen. Since both children are gifted, their parents decided
that they should start to learn Ballroom dancing in April 2002.
Usually Marina and Kevin danced Cha-cha, Rumba or Samba, and they danced very well. In addition, they began to learn
exciting Paso Double with great joy and anticipation to perform now their favorite fire like dance. Marina Shershen and Kevin
Kulish who, we are sure, are on the road to become future champions in anything they do...
