An elegant Tanguero develops a special, careful walk with the toes first, with the
point at the end of his shoes, but not with the heels, like it is in the ballroom.
Development of a special tango walk takes really great effort and concentration.
For some movements or music, he walks softly as a cat, or as a spy who afraid to
wake somebody up.
- The energy of the steps goes down to the floor. Sending some energy to the foot
in front of you is crucial for the confident walk. It is important to have some
energy inside your good, strong frame. Strong connection and communication
between the bodies is the half way to success of the dance.
- There are no obstacles on the floor, so do not step over, don't lift your feet hight
while stepping, and don't drug legs, ether.
-The leg goes first, then your body, never otherwise.
- Your goal is to make a triangle between your legs below the knees: one leg
slightly bends and another is stretched forward.
- Don't move your arms separately from your shoulders. They are moving as one
block from your shoulder to your elbow.
- In order to control women better, try to keep your right arm on the bra line,
across her spine. In a closed embrace, it should be under her armpit. Sometimes
your arm slides farther to the left side of your partner in order to give her more
space, when you lead some complicated movement (open embrace).
- Argentine Tango is a dance that historically asks for a torque. In order to be
connected, you accompany each other. Your upper body should dissociate from
your hips, and your belly-button is your flashlight, towards each other...

radiate with a passion to communicate the heart, adventure,

Hugo Daniel (Los Pampas Devils, 2001-04), a wonderful dancer, fabulous leader, was
among my first teachers. Once Hugo told me: If you want to improve Tango technique
faster, you need to practice your walk alone, especially backwards, and while you are
dancing the music, remember about the torque and the posture.
Later, during our several trips to Argentina, we took classes with different distinguished
teachers, but only a few of them talked a little bit about the distinctive Tango walk.
However, we will recognize the real Master of Tango when we see how he is moving,
his tango walk. I was lucky to learn and polished my skills with several Great Masters,
and would like to share with my students my observations, knowledge, and my own
experience as a dancer and teacher.
During our lessons we give some historical explanations of some movements. We also use different images to help people better
understand Tango steps. It brings great fun to the lessons. "Gentlemen! I have some news for you: you have to be leaders in
Tango! To improve your dance, learn it persistently. Only some who seriously invested in tango time and money will get success.
- Before the first movement, a leader needs to check where the weight of his partner is by moving the spine from side to side,
with no steps. Then, a leader sends a special energy signal, leads a partner from the chest or better from a belly bottom. Put
your energy in the front of you, and if she feels it, she would move. Men lead and follow.
